Arthur Ronald Ross (433226)Sergeant

Ross arrived at 20TU Mildura on the 13th of February, 1944.

On the 26th of March 1944, Ross was flying Kittyhawk A29-22 as No.2 to another flown by Flight Lieutenant Maurice A. Blake carrying out dogfighting practice at altitude. On conclusion of the exercise, they were preparing to return to base when they spotted two Spitfires heading for the Gol Gol range and decided to carry out a no warning feint attack. Unfortunately, Ross’s Kittyhawk struck Spitfire ASS-123 flown by Flying Officer J. Inger and went out of control and crashed 10-miles north-north-east of the aerodrome at approximately 1215 hours.
